First Photo of Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort Together with Veronica Roth on the Set of Divergent

As you already know, Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley will be our two main leads for the movie adaptation of John Green's best selling novel "The Fault in Our Stars." They will play Gus and Hazel, respectively. These two actors are also working on another movie called "Divergent," based from the novel by Veronica Roth. In that said movie, they play as brothers and sisters Caleb and Tris. Veronica Roth was able to share a photo of her with Shailene and Ansel. Well, this is our first peek at the two actors together (though Ms. Roth is in between them).

Ms. Roth also teases John Green about it via Twitter.

... however, with a little help of Photoshop, they are now together! HAHA. enjoy.

Shailene Woodley Jokes on Working Again with Ansel Elgort

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly (EW), Shailene Woodley, who will play Tris in The Fault in Our Stars movie, gushed about how she jokes around with Ansel Elgort. The two actors are currently working in another movie called Divergent, which is based on a best selling novel by Veronica Roth. In Divergent, they are playing brothers and sisters Caleb and Tris Prior.

Shailene on Ansel:

“I’m like, ‘In a few months, buddy, you’re going to be my lover.’”

“Ansel is so good. I’m so excited. He blew it out of the water,” she says of the time they read the parts of Gus and Hazel together. “And he’s a real sweetheart. I’m so excited to have him in my life.”

John Green Defended TFiOS Casting - Ansel as Gus and Shailene as Hazel Grace

Author John Green has spoken his mind on the recent issues floating around the casting news of the movie adaptation of his book "The Fault in Our Stars." You might have heard that Ansel Elgort will play Augustus "Gus" Waters and Shailene Woodley will play Hazel. Guys, read his explanation below on why these actors have been cast to play those roles.

1. Shailene Woodley is a brilliant actress and Golden Globe nominee. I cannot think of any 18-year-old actress who has received the kind of critical acclaim that she has (she also won an Independent Spirit Award).

She auditioned for The Fault in Our Stars not because she needs the part (I mean, she’s in the new Spider Man movie, for God’s sakes) but because she loves the book. Her depth of understanding were immediately obvious in the audition and for me there could be no one else to play Hazel. (There were a bunch of really good auditions, but Shailene just understood Hazel as I imagined her.)

I am not particularly concerned with physical looks; Hollywood can fix that stuff. (Remember when Nicole Kidman became Virginia Woolf?) I’m concerned with whether she can embody the voice and experience and life of Hazel. She can.

2. Ansel Elgort is also a huge fan of TFiOS (it is, in fact, his favorite book). He was a high school basketball player who also happens to be a very intellectual guy. Most importantly, when he auditioned, he became Augustus. Watching him audition with Shailene, he was just Gus and she was just Hazel. He understood Gus, and clearly had a very deep and thoughtful relationship with the book. Honestly, I’m a bit confused as to how you can dislike an actor whose work you have definitionally never seen, since his first movie isn’t out yet.

3. Novelists do not cast movies, so these were not my decisions (although I did have a lot of input). But I’m defending them because I think they’re both perfect for their parts (and I’d tell you if I felt otherwise).

4. There seems to be some concern that Ansel and Shailene are playing siblings in a different movie. I guess I can understand that, but they’re actors. They can play different roles. They’ll look different and act different and be different. I mean, no one watched Silver Linings Playbook and thought, “When did Katniss move to the suburbs of Philadelphia?”

If the movie works, you’ll sit down in the theater and you won’t say, “Oh look it’s Shailene Woodley,” or, “Oh, look, it’s Tris from Divergent.” You’ll say, “Holy wow Hazel Grace.”

Issues like these are not new when it comes to movie adaptation of books. But come on guys! You should respect the decisions of the people behind the movie adaptation. We haven't seen any of their audition tapes! We all have our own version of Gus and Hazel on our mind when we read the book. Physical features of the actors/actresses are not really important because they can be transformed with the use of makeup or whatever. What's important is the talent of the actor/actress and how they bring our favorite characters to life. So, guys, chill okay? Okay?

Ansel Elgort is Augustus in The Fault in Our Stars Movie!

Few days ago, there were five actors who were rumored to vye for the role of Augustus Waters in the movie adaptation of "The Fault in Our Stars." These guys include Brenton Thwaites, Nat Wolff, Nick Robinson, Noah Silver and Ansel Elgort. And the lucky guy to play the most coveted role of Augustus "Gus" Waters is none other than Ansel Elgort. He will soon be joining Shailene Woodley, who plays Hazel in the upcoming TFiOS movie.

Author John Green on Ansel as Augustus:

“Ansel is whip-smart and uber-charismatic and everything I dreamed for Augustus Waters,” John Green tells EW in an exclusive statement. “I am by nature a cautious pessimist, but I’ll just say it: Now that we have Shailene and Ansel, I am completely, unreservedly psyched about this movie.”

Director Josh Boone on Ansel as Augustus:

“Ansel Elgort is the epitome of the boy John Green brought to life so vividly in his novel and he truly embodies the character traits we admire so much about Gus. His humor, sensitivity, honesty and confidence floored us. Watching him with Shailene was like seeing the film for the first time. Hearing then say okay to each other was incredibly moving. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have found our Gus.”

Producer Godfrey Wyck on Ansel as Augustus:

”We were all swept away by the humor, charm, and aching vulnerability Ansel brought to his portrayal of Gus. His performance completely annihilated our concerns about his playing Caleb in Divergent with Shailene, and we are confident that the fans of Fault will fall in love with him the same way that Hazel does–slowly, and then all at once.”

Thanks EW for the news.

In case you don't know Ansel Elgort plays the brother of Shailene Woodley's character in Divergent, another young adult book by Veronica Roth that will be adapted to movie soon.  They have already started filming so I guess working again for another movie will make them comfortable on set.

You will see Ansel in Carrie with Chloe Grace Moretz this fall. What do you think of Ansel as Augustus? Are you excited?

Josh Boone Confirms Amsterdam Shoot of The Fault in Our Stars Movie

Director Josh Boone has confirmed via Twitter that some of The Fault in Our Stars movie scenes will be shot in Amsterdam. If you have read the book, you have already known that one of the pivotal moments was Tris and Gus' trip to Amsterdam to see their favorite author Peter Van Houten. He also said that TFiOS will be shot later this year.

As of the moment, the confirmed cast is Shailene Woodley, she will play the lead Hazel Grace. As for Gus, there were five actors in the mix for the role and this does not mean that one of them will get it. You can read the post here.

Five Actors to Test for Augustus Waters in The Fault in Our Stars Movie

After a very long time of no news about the movie adaptation of "The Fault in Our Stars," Variety has finally broke the silence with the rumor of having five actors to test for the role of the male lead Augustus Waters. Are you excited to know?

Variety has reported that Brenton Thwaites, Nat Wolff, Nick Robinson, Noah Silver and Ansel Elgort will test for the role of Augustus Waters this weekend. Let's get to know more about these five potential actors.

NOTE: These are just rumors, there's a big chance that one of them may get the part or not. We don't know we get to have more casting rumorsabout Augustus to come.

Brenton Thwaites

Brenton Thwaites

Brandon Thwaites has been in the mix of playing Four in another young adult novel called Divergent, where Shailene Woodley (who happens to play Hazel in The Fault in Our Stars), is the female lead Tris. Brandon is an Australian actor who was part of some TV series like SLiDE and Home and Away. He will soon be seen as the Young Prince opposite Elle Fanning and Angela Jolie in Maleficent.

Nat Wolff

Nat Wolff

You've seen Nat in the comedy Admission, starring Tina Fey and Paul Rudd. He's also one of those actors who were fan cast of being Augustus.

Nick Robinson

Nick Robinson

Nick was in the ABC TV program Melissa & Joey as Ryder Scanlon. He will soon be seen as Joy Toy in a coming-of-age movie about three kids who ran away from home.

Noah Silver

There's nothing much info about Nick Silver expect he plays Benito Sforza in The Borgias and he will be the titular character Jamie Marks Is Dead with Morgan Freeman.

Ansel Elgort

Ansel is currently working with our leading lady Shailene Woodley in Divergent (based in Veronica Roth's book). He plays Tris' (Shailene Woodley) brother Caleb. It might be a little comfortable for Ansel to be working again with Shailene in TFiOS if he will be chosen.

So who do you think will get cast? Do you like any of them?
